Field Engineer - Durban

What does the role involve?
As a field Engineer you would be responsible for securing future business through specifications and approvals by regular planned calls to various players within the designated segment, in order to attain profitable growth. You would also be responsible for coordinating all necessary efforts to ensure conversion of specification and approvals to sales, as well as support the Account Managers to build competence on the engineering products. Far from traditional cold calling, it’s about nurturing relationships with customers, and helping them find the most innovative and cost-efficient solutions for their needs.
Your responsibilities include:
Maximize the sales potential of Hilti products and services through specification with selected customer groups and projects.
Maximize the sales and application opportunities in a defined list of key regional projects/Shafts through project management of all activities, and coordination of all engineering resources.
Provide engineering support and coverage to a defined group of designers, both consulting engineers and focused customers, to gain specifications, through providing a value engineering service.
Provide technical support and training to Hilti sales force and customers, to ensure the delivery of a high-quality engineering support service at all times.
Produce all records and reports to the required standard and in a timely manner.
Develop strong relationships with the technical decision makers to assure a high degree of success in achieving favorable Hilti Product Specifications and within the assigned segment.Attainment of specifications and approvals through regular planned calls on jobsite consultants and contractors within the assigned segments through submittals, design proposals, and seminars.
Field rides with sales team to solve contractors’ issues using Hilti engineering products and assist them to close sales opportunities for engineered products as well as proactively generate new business opportunities.

What you need is:
Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural engineering
Minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in the construction industry gained either in a design office
Good knowledge of the construction and/or mining industry, and the design and construction process with all relevant technical disciplines associated with Hilti applications/products
Be able to identify and show an understanding of the customer’s needs
Analyses results and trends to develop strategies that will improve importance
Implement the strategy of the Technical Service Manager
Achieve the specifications targets set by the Technical Services Manager
